Dr. Gwendolyn Dowdy-Rodgers has been married 26 years to Arlington Rodgers Jr. and is the proud wife and mother. Gwen is a national speaker for women’s conferences, the assistant pastor and worship leader at Church of the Living God in Highland California, and proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Incorporated.

 

Dr. Rodger's has a Bachelor of Science degree in social work from California Baptist University, Masters is Human Resource Management and Management and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. Gwen is the founder of Young Women’s Empowerment Foundation, (YWE) where the mission is to empower young women 12-21 to reach their highest aspirations while mentoring them from middle school to their first year of college also providing scholarships. YWE also established an annual spring “Girl Talk” conference for young girls on human trafficking awareness along with an annual Fall “Healthy Me” Wellness Conference for women and a new initiative “My Sisters Keeper” to address sexual assault and domestic violence among teens.

 

Likewise, Dr. Rodgers spent over 20 years in finance management with American General Financial Corporation, AIG. She is a Community Development Specialist for Pacific Clinics formerly known as Uplift Family Services advocating for mental health services and resources on behalf of foster youth and is also the President of Arrowhead United Way. Gwen is  a twice elected San Bernardino City Unified’s board of education member and is the former President and Vice-President. She is also a Delegate for the California School Board Association and serves on the legislative committee and a San Bernardino First 5 Commissioner.

 

Dr. Rodgers also spends countless hours working in the community mentoring/volunteering her time. She is the Co-chair of Department of Behavioral Health African American Awareness sub-committee, Co-Chair of San Bernardino County Gang and Drugs Executive Board, Vice-Chair San Bernardino’s Pastors United, Member of the San Bernardino Police Department African American Advisory, San Bernardino Police Department Chaplain's, San Bernardino Symphony, Kiwanis of Greater San Bernardino and other many other community committees and task force groups related to prevention education that support the community. Rodger's has received numerous awards and recognitions for her service.
